Kritzelpate Volunteer Program

With fun and playful exercises, you as a Scribble Mentor help children discover the joy of writing and develop important motor skills. Together, we create better opportunities for the future young children.

How does the Scribble Mentorship work?

No prior knowledge is needed to become a Scribble Mentor! In four visits of 90 minutes each (including preparation time) you will introduce the children to writing in a playful way. Our mascot “Kritzelini” will accompany you and the children on a journey into the world of writing using short and themed tales. A Scribble Mentor supervises a group of about 6 preschool children (around 5-6 years old). You will be supported by an educational specialist familiar to the children.

What do I need to become a Scribble Mentor?
We provide everything you need for your sessions: pens, worksheets, and a specially developed workbook with all the important exercises, instructions and helpful tips for implementation. These exercises are based on scientific findings and were developed in collaboration with educators from the Schreibmotorik Institut – for effective and child-friendly support.

Step-by-step to becoming a mentor

1. For a mentorship, there are two options:

a) A coordination center near you already offers the Scribble Mentor program? Great – then get in touch. Below you will find an overview of our current partner regions.
b) There is no coordination center: contact us and we will try to find an individual solution.

2. Introductory event

You will receive all the materials and an invitation to our introductory event. Here, there will be plenty of time to clarify any questions and prepare you for your Scribble Mentorship.

Let’s get started!

Once you've made contact with your preschool you're ready to begin! Enjoy fun and exciting times in the facility of your choice, doodling and trying out the first writing movements with the children.

Experience exchange at the final event

If interested, you and the facility can participate in a final exchange. Help us improve the project. Share your experiences and benefit from exchanging ideas with other Scribble Mentors.
